2016

Hello 2016

So glad to meet you.

So here's the plan for LULA 2016:

Goal 1: expand our website in a huge way to all of the world- LULA goes International

more product online- these items will be separate from the store- (ONLINE ONLY). If you live in our cities- you can defray the cost of shipping by picking it up wrapped and ready to go at LULA and we can also use BOXHAWK to deliver it to you immediately in the twin cities at a very low cost.

Goal 2: LULA will have a huge bag sale at an undisclosed location on a Saturday in May or June.

It'll be 8 hours only. It will be a bag sale. Cash only. $20 per bag. (The Bags are BIG.) No coats or purses will be allowed into the sale. You can share a bag with another person but you must leave the sale with your partner. You must buy a bag to enter the sale. ( I'm pretty certain you'll find something but yes if you don't find a single item to place in your bag, you can get your $20 back upon returning the empty bag.) I will announce the date of the sale in APRIL. I will announce the location a week before. (getting dropped off at the sale will be recommended or car pooling.)

Goal 3: Share more of your photos on our website, Facebook page and Instagram.

We want to see your style with what you get from LULA. Please email me any photos to lulavintagemn@gmail.com. Share with us on Instagram too. I would love to show exactly how cute you are to the entire world. You can tag LULA VINTAGE WEAR Facebook page too.

Goal 4: help write a book

Yes, it's true! Bloomsbury publishing gave my pals and I a contract to write a book. We could really use your help with our research. Please participate in the survey about your vintage shopping habits. The link is on Lula's Facebook page.

Goal 5: Get good condition vintage clothing to the masses

This has been the purpose of LULA for over 24 years. Please help our mission proceed for another half century more.

Goal 6: Celebrate our 25 years in OCTOBER with a spectacular nice outfit event

more on this later but you should start planning your outfit now.

WINTER AT LULA

Why hello- How are you?  I ,Lula, am doing just fine. We are embracing the winter here at LULA. There has been a post-holiday transition. Many glittery items have been moved out to make way for practical goods such as sweaters, warmer day dresses, wool skirts and pants. There are also all new sport coats and suit jackets added to the store. Accessories like purses, hats and scarves have all been similarly refreshed to give the LULA-ite a little wardrobe boost. In terms of mens' wear, there are new ties, bow ties, pocket squares and woolen shirts.

Just so you know, we have a Pinterest page called The Autumn Look Book for LULA VINTAGE MN. Which is inspirational as well as interesting. We also have a regularly updated Facebook page- LULA VINTAGE WEAR. Our LULAVINTAGEMN Instagrams are comprised of  "The Item of The DAY" as well as outfit ideas, things that are interesting and sometimes our amazing customers. Please consider checking following us.

Winter can be a great time of year because of the amazing fashion that you can wear. Please come to LULA in St Paul, MN because we can help make it much better.

Fall at LULA

Hey Kind Reader,

Truly, it's the most beautiful of all autumns. It has been gradual which affords us the opportunity to wear many fall ensembles. Plaids, woolens, ponchos, coats, sweaters, denim, dresses, skirts, knit minis, silk and wool scarves, fur collars  etc. The store has been turned over with new stock a few times since our original FALL switch over in August. LULA is currently full of fabulous dresses, fur coats, crazy maxi gowns and lots of casual fall wear. We have many choices for men as well with great suits and sport coats. We've got leather coats, pendleton shirts and fall wool plaid jackets. We are open everyday and we are restocking daily to adapt with our ever changing Minnesota temperatures. We will have our annual Candlelight Shopping night on Thursday November 13th from6-9. There will be snacks, drinks and a sale. We will have a special guest to promote mens' wear. I'll talk more about this event closer to the date. Also, Thursday October 30th is Lula's 23rd anniversary. Please come by to celebrate 4-7.

Thursday April 24 5-8pm A Spring Fling

The stores in our neighborhood are having SPRING FLING this Thursday.

There will be sales, food and drink at many of the stores at Selby and Snelling including Boehms Bike Shop and The Sweatshop.

Everything will be 25 % off this Thursday Lula Vintage Wear between 5-8pm

COME AS YOU ARE!

& have a fling with me.

SPRING FASHION

Here's a short primer about spring fashion. (I'll blog more later too regarding this topic)

Obviously- by now, we are tired of our winter clothing and it is time for something new. However,  with only a slight variation in temperature, it is sometimes difficult to transition our wardrobes and minds. As we all know, for spring, the palette lightens and fabrics do as well. For fabrics- cotton is not yet fully appropriate- linens, knits, rayons and light toned woolens are what to wear. These are materials that are good for cooler spring temperatures.  In terms of color-pastels, khakis, florals, light geometrics all are considered spring. Coats should be leather, wool, knits, canvas, and twills. Suede, fur, heavy wools are no longer considered in style after March. For your shoe wear- unless unseasonably warm, bare legs and sandals are not in season quite yet. A bare ankle with a legging and a flat are perfectly alright. Boots are also okay as long as they aren't a winter boot. (And yes- for blizzards - please still wear your snow boots.) Lighter colored tights and leggings are better even when layered for warmth. Light colored sweaters, cardigans, tops are a good way to transition in our region. Bright colors are also great for the spring as we all are familiar with the bright yellow rain coat. If you still want to wear dark tones- go towards blues, charcoals, browns in the mocha family. The idea being that they are still compatible tones with lighter colors. So that's a bit of an overview. These guidelines are good to know because when you follow them your fashion will seem intuitive and carefree. There is more to say on this topic but we will wait until next time.

We are participating at RETRORAMA 2014

LULA will have a shop at RETRORAMA. Not only will we have a large stash of unseen stock- we will also have an "I LOVE LULA"  photo booth. The pictures will have their own page on our website. This years' theme is 70's & 80's however- you should always feel free to wear any vintage you'd like. I'll write more as we get closer. It's going to be super FABTACULAR.

MARCH ON!

Spring is fully in the store. We are doing touches like adding mens shoes, more mens suits and new jewelry  but otherwise it's complete. There are lots of pastels and great transitional garb. How about you shop for hope? Perhaps if you get a light weight spring cardigan you may cause spring to come for all of us. You could be the hero. Consider it- we are open daily.

January is over.

pretty much.

Let's look forward. A small preliminary selection of prom dresses will be coming in very, very soon. And by soon- I mean tomorrow. If everything works out alright- my truck starts, there are not blizzard conditions and I get a lane at my local swimming hole. Then- yes- for February 1st they'll be a very small rack of prom dresses. I put in a ton of new stuff this week and I will next week as well as I start my transition to spring. You should really come by and check it out.

New year New website for LULA

So we are in the process of building this new site. It will be a place to learn about the store. It will also be a place to shop for items online- items separate from our store. We will post our events, announce about new stock and comment on new fashion trends. We will be launching the store aspect of our site very soon.
